2sb8h86ct3It really goes without saying that the condition the world is in today provokes thinking. It forces us to create a new way of living; be more aware of our surroundings, suspicious of anything or anybody that seems out of the ordinary, and curious about religions and the Bible.

The recent terrorist attacks, in Paris and in California have especially rolled out and heightened a whole new set of problems and concerns! I wouldn’t be too off-beat in saying that we all certainly are suddenly seeing a crisis that is much larger and more intense than anyone previously realized! Looking at the situation in America, objectively, I liken the invasion of current-day jihadists to that of an infestation of rodents in our house!  Picture it: you flip the light on one night and your house is just about invaded by countless rats, and some are hiding in places you know not where! And, clearly, when of ISIS Barack Obama said, “we have contained them,” whether in Iraq and Syria, it was no comfort finding out that some of them are here, in the U.S. already among us!

This, and much more, gives off the feeling or the wonderment that perhaps we are living in the last days. Something about all of this new breed of terrorism leaves the impression that it isn’t going to go away anytime soon, if anything, that it may grow worse before it reaches a finale. Hence, that question, it draws me to the Word of God: The Bible!

Is the Bible unfolding? Is the end, of this modern age, drawing to a close? Is an evolution on its way to us, a changing of life and sense of humanity; one that will depend only on each human being’s state of mind when determining the final resting place for that person? If we’re forward-thinkers and envision only positive, beautiful living, is that what we will gain for ourselves, on the other side of all of the current badness? And, about the state that most all nations and the world is in, is it likely or possible that the Bible’s prophesies will come to pass?

I got to thinking about a few things noted in the Bible, and that Christ Jesus had said before departing from his disciples and ascending to heaven:

  • The Great Commission

“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted [that it was really He]. Jesus came up and said to them, ‘All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 28: 16-20 Amp. Emphasis mine)

  • The Glorious Return

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not provide its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And at that time the sign of the Son of Man [coming in His glory] will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth [and especially Israel] will mourn [regretting their rebellion and rejection of the Messiah], and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [in brilliance and splendor]. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet and they will gather together His elect (God’s chosen ones) from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.” (Matthew 24:29-31 Amp)

  • Jesus Will Come Again

“It is important for you to understand what will happen in the last days. People will laugh at you. They will live following the evil they want to do. They will say, ‘Jesus promised to come again. Where is he? Our fathers have died, but the world continues the way it has been since it was made.’ But these people don’t want to remember what happened long ago. The skies were there, and God made the earth from water and with water. All this happened by God’s word. Then the world was flooded and destroyed with water. And that same word of God is keeping the skies and the earth that we have now. They are being kept to be destroyed by fire.  But the day when the Lord comes again will surprise everyone like the coming of a thief. The sky will disappear with a loud noise. Everything in the sky will be destroyed with fire. And the earth and everything in it will be burned up. Everything will be destroyed in this way.” (2 Peter 3: 3-7, 10-11 Easy-to-Read Version ERV)

  • Then and Now

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations… Back when Jesus said this to his disciples, the world was as primitive as can be; computers, technology, electronics; telephones, cell phones; cars, trains, and planes; much less, firecrackers or worse: bombs, machine guns, and weapons of mass destruction, weren’t even a thought in the minds of his followers! The disciples, then, simpletons in their own rights, through word-of-mouth, (preaching the Good News) and writing, tells of the founding of the Christian church and the spread of its message to the Roman empire. Hearts, however, were as dark as blackness and full of evil, and persecution of the Early Christians occurred at the hands of both Jews (from whose religion Christianity arose) and the Roman Empire, before the Edict of Milan legalized the religion early in the fourth century and it eventually became the State church of the Roman Empire. When Religious wars (jihads) broke out, or the attempt to annihilate all Christians, swords were basically the weapons used to slaughter and mutilate bodies of Christians, or else they were captured and enslaved.

The Bible is, Unfolding!

Everything in the sky will be destroyed with fire. And the earth and everything in it will be burned up. Everything will be destroyed in this way. This scripture (as noted in 2 Peter 3: 10-11) lends me the theory that today’s Weapons of Mass Destruction shall be the means used, by the Madmen possessing them, to fulfill that prophesy.

Notwithstanding the obvious, unless we are Muslim, or if we are Christians, Pagans or Atheists, we are considered the Infidels nearly dragged to the stakes or already murdered.

Indeed, there has been a progression here, on earth, currently with an intensity so fast and furious so far, we’d be wise to get on our knees and call upon the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Jesus Christ to our Rescue! As this may be what finally spurs the Son of Man to pierce through the clouds, stop the abrasive goings-on, and restore to those of us who want peace, our peaceful lives, and the Prince of Peace, in our midst!

In spite of everything transpiring all around us, we must find a place in our hearts and minds for Yahweh and God the Son, Jesus. And with complete confidence know that this God knows what is occurring and what He is doing. Most definitely, it appears as if the last days are upon us, though this too may stretch longer given that God’s time and our time are not one in the same. But, whether we see the mass destruction unfold in the coming days or some years from now, it makes no difference! For, as 2 Peter 3: 11-15 continues;

Be Ready for the Day of the Lord

“So think of the kind of holy and godly lives you must live as you look forward to the day of God and eagerly wait for it to come. When that day comes, heaven will be on fire and will be destroyed. Everything that makes up the universe will burn and melt. But we look forward to what God has promised—a new heaven and a new earth—a place where everything that has God’s approval lives.  Therefore, dear friends, with this to look forward to, make every effort to have him find you at peace, without spiritual stains or blemishes. Think of our Lord’s patience as an opportunity for us to be saved. This is what our dear brother Paul wrote to you about, using the wisdom God gave him.”
