Chapter 12

Chris' Living Room-1I was just about to sit down with my plate of cheese and pear, and my pad and pen to jot down any last-minute task for tonight’s dinner party at the hotel, whence Grace calls me and sounds a little weird on the phone. I asked her how she’s doing, and she tells me that she’s drunk!

“Drunk? What do mean you’re drunk, Grace? Your party is starting in four hours from now! Besides, I thought you told me that you loathe alcohol.”

“Today was an exception…” Grace slurred “I freaked-out…two times today…no… wait… three times… in total. No… maybe…twice, or four times! I… don’t remember,” she said, and I cut her off—

“Grace, what did you freak-out… about?” I was worried that this might be a game-changer!

“About the party, Chris! I don’t like lying to people; you already know that about me. I wasn’t a performer in Bisset’s show…”

“That’s true, Grace. But you also believed that you were William Huntsman’s girlfriend and had insisted to your friends that you would marry William Huntsman! That’s the part that you want to clean up so that it restores your reputation again.”

“You’re damn straight, skippy! Now… howdoIdothat, …again?” Grace whined.

“Read your show notes, Grace, you wrote them down yourself. Better yet, TAKE A NAP, and I’ll call you in two hours to wake you up.”

All I heard next was Grace snoring! Grace cracks me up; she’s something else! I was glad that she fell asleep because she’ll get a second wind from the nap and that is just what we need tonight! In the meantime, I’m going to have my snack and then meetup with my events planner. I have a sweet surprise in store for Grace.
